Spring Song has Sprouted!
In January 2022, I came across a patch of defiant early Iris's, pushing up through the snow. Their delicate determination moved me deeply. Out of this quiet encounter, I heard this song come through, first as a whisper, and it began to sing through my voice. My co-producer Terrence Pompey heard it, and brought the strings and drums. Then Elana Brody wove her angelic presence to this track. I recorded this song with musical engineer Nich Jones on the anniversary of my grandfather, Mordechai Rubin’s z"l death, and recorded the harmony's on what later that day, became the day that my nephew was born. 8 days later, my nephew was given my grandfather’s Hebrew name, Mordechai, and has the last name Rubin. This Spring Song tells of the journey from winter to spring, and the triumph of life over death. Released on the full moon of March 2022, on the holiday of Purim, a mythical day once fated to have murderous events taking place, but because of the delicate beauty and voice of Esther, the fate of the world was changed.
